Event Update

JUST 4 DAYS LEFT TO CATCH THE EARLY BIRD PRICE FOR THE REUNION! We need your early support so please get registered! (Cheques mailed and post-marked up by eod November 15th will also be accepted.)

Some more detail about the main events that we’re planning:

SATURDAY

We’re holding a community workshop featuring some of Toronto’s original Lindy Hop instructors including Lisa Jacobs, Jana Jedlovska, Alana Hock and I’m still confirming a couple of other instructors. This will be a 2-hour group sharing experience. It’s less about learning anything new and fancy and more about the spirit and fundamental messages these instructors have wanted to instill in their students over the years.

Then we’ll be having dinner* and watching the Hop to Toronto documentary created by Allan Munro. And yes, there will be a bar! After dinner, we’re going to revive the T.O. Mish Mash, Toronto’s own unique mob dance, circa 2000!
After dinner, we’ll team up with Swing Toronto to enjoy the sensational Alex Pangman and her Alleycats!

SUNDAY

One of my very favourite things is a jazz brunch and I’m particularly looking forward to the Sunday of the reunion weekend with Tyler Yarema playing! We’re starting off with a trio BUT if we can sell enough tickets (hint hint) we hope to add more musicians including some of the wonderful musicians that we haven’t had play for the community many years. It’s going to be a real treat! And we’ll be featuring a couple of Toronto’s best bakeries among other delicious food at the brunch*. And yes, there will be a bar!

We’re also having a panel that I’ve wanted to put on for *years* about the history of Lindy Hop in Toronto. We’ll hear from some of Canada’s very first Lindy Hoppers including Chachi, Lisa Jacobs, Peter Renzland, Jana Jedlovska, Simon Threlkeld, and I’m still confirming hopefully another name or two. This is going to be REALLY interesting.
*Vegan and gluten options will be available, of course. Just make sure to specify when you register.

Please join in on the fun and support the event. Register now!
